Why this exists

Where the $5 goes

This site is run by one person. The monthly cost is small but real: quantum-API access from three independent labs, Cloudflare hosting, the domain, the fonts. No ads, no email signups, no investors, no affiliate links. The site has never made a dollar of revenue and that’s by design.

$5/month is roughly the cost of one Mega Millions ticket. Unlike the ticket, a membership lasts the entire month and keeps a working public utility online for everyone — including the people who can’t spare $5.

Membership is optional. If you can’t spare it, don’t. The site stays free no matter what. If you can, $5 keeps the lights on and the quantum samples flowing.

What you get
  • The same site, same features. No premium tier. That’s the point.
  • An email receipt from Stripe for your records. No marketing emails — ever.
  • The quiet satisfaction of keeping a free, no-tracking, no-ads public tool free.
What this isn’t
  • Not a charity. Lotto Laboratory is a sole-proprietor project, not a 501(c)(3). Contributions are not tax-deductible.
  • Not access to extras. Nothing on the site is locked behind support. Every feature is free for every visitor.
  • Not required. Use the site freely whether you contribute or not. Always.

Membership FAQ

The quiet details

How do I cancel my membership?

Click "Manage subscription" above. Stripe will email you a one-time access link to your customer portal. There you can cancel in one click — no email exchange, no support ticket, no questions asked. Cancellation is immediate; you keep access through the end of your paid period.

Do you keep my credit card information?

No. Card details are handled entirely by Stripe (PCI-DSS Level 1 certified). Lotto Laboratory never sees, stores, or has access to your payment information at any point.

Will you send me marketing emails?

No. The only email you'll receive is a Stripe-generated receipt for your contribution. We never collect your email for marketing, we have no newsletter, and we don't share your email with anyone.

Is my contribution tax-deductible?

No. Lotto Laboratory is operated by an independent developer as a sole proprietorship, not a registered charity or 501(c)(3). Contributions are personal support, not charitable donations.

What if I can't afford $5/month?

Don't contribute. Use the site freely. The whole point of the model is that the site stays accessible to everyone — including people for whom $5 is real money. Membership is for people who can comfortably spare it and want to.

Do supporters get any special features?

No, and that's deliberate. Every feature on the site is free for every visitor. Membership funds the site's operation without creating a two-tier experience. The same brand promise — no ads, no signup, no upsell — applies whether you contribute or not.

Where does the money actually go?

In rough order: quantum-API budget (ANU has a paid tier; LfD and NIST are free), Cloudflare Pages hosting, the lottolaboratory.com domain, web fonts, and the small amount of time it takes to keep the site updated. Anything beyond cost gets reinvested in features (longer historical archive, more generation methods, etc.).

What's the difference between $5/month and $5 one-time?

Functionally nothing — both keep the site running. The monthly option is the simpler, more reliable way to support over time. The one-time option is for people who don't want a recurring charge. Pick whichever feels right.

Thank you for caring whether this stays free.
